Years ago I finally learned to travel while eating well. I love to dine with clients, vendors, racers, family. Enjoying a fine meal and vibrant conversation is priceless.
Damn near fell over Rob, when Assigned to shoot the daylights outta ‘the Springs - over 3 days/nights - for Head of Training - WorldWide - Fairmont Hotels & Resorts - Our final evening he spec’d the vibrant FrogLeap Zin & since we both knew each other’s Hospitality backtrail told the entire table how I came to Bartend & VJ ‘The Clubhouse we were ‘Private dining in - (since renamed) overlooking the original 1st Tee - was a crackin cold Sauvignon Bland prior with a delightful assembly of shellfish needing strict attention - He’d started in Laundry - Jasper Park Lodge as did I - Banff is my adopted ‘home town’ - was a ‘liftie one season at The Gondola Lift - mainly split shift so’s to have Night Tower Maintenance & afternoons at the BS Pool after getting the Lift up n runnin in the AM - (dude that became my Best Man was hired after myself - CabbageTown kid fresh out University of Pennsylvania - full ride - Hockey - pretty gal, a dog & red volkswagen beetle blowin plenty of oil !)
I learned tons about the Fairmont Service Promise & Representing The Brand from that hombre & it’s stayed with me ever since - went around the world with him.. 18-20 hour Day/Nights - Gold Pass - All Access - All Areas - You’ll both crack smiles re our love potion # 10 Club Med Turkoise TCI - expect some ‘shootin in situ as I’m Deep into a Spec Action/Drama - Environmentally Oriented Story Outline & not a single setting more than 300 feet from tideline.. aside from airport etc or outer barrier reef - some fine cuisine down there over the years !
Were a two man open wheel Formula Ford team racing Mosport back in the day.. pal had a Crossle in Bulova Racing Series & I had a rep for drivin ‘large dinky toys & hauling heavy loads or pushin boreal clay in the oil fields - where one does not go ‘late on braking in corners - to ‘pass’ hoho.. & can tell tales of blown clutches & brake fail from stone hits.. on dicey places .. will be back - catch-up on some more of your adventures - as ‘supply train guru - logistical savant or both !
